Night Women Reading Notes

Plot: Mom and son live together because dad is gone. In order to make money, mom decides to be a night women who is a prostitute. She does her job aside her son, since her son is young and he has no sense of sex. Mom extremely loves the son and sees him as the only lover left in the world. At night, mom would lip his face and confirm whether the son has fallen to sleep. When the son notices about his naked mom at night, she would tell whom the woman is an angel, bringing the ghost of dad to them. There are two whoremasters with different characteristics and backgrounds. In the end, the son asked mom if he has missed the angel, mom responded that angels haven't come yet.

Personal Response:

The miserable life experiences of women is a common topic in four stories so far. Male always lose their lives under various competitions in society, while female may also lose their lives or be responsible for the rest of works left by the male. Obviously, women at that period don't have abilities to treat with normal jobs. Being a prostitute is one way of feeding her son. Every story should have a conflict, and the conflict at here is how to explain to her son while she herself is working. Angels and dead father are two brilliant objects to the son. However, along with the growth of age, the young son will soon realize the truth behind. Even though the mom has found a solution currently, having a such life with her son will bother her for a long-term like a hell.

Final Blog Post

I clearly remembered how was the first day of this class. We warmed up to be familiar with acting. To a person who had not experienced any performance ever, performance undoubtedly became the part I spent time to think the most. Two years course is a long run, but it impresses me more than the other classes I have taken in Cheshire Academy. Before I took this class, I thought acting is easy like until we tried to improvise various moves and gestures in front of people. I felt shy and embarrassed at the beginning, throughout two years' performance, and I became more and more confident to act in front of people and cameras. The class is called literature and performance so the other essential aspect is its literature. I still remembered the first book we read and the first performance, which is the monologue we played in the black box.  Fences talk about poverty and situations of African Americans.
