Three Stories Analysis

Stress appears respectively in three stories, while people die in the progress of escaping and rejecting from pressures. In the first story, the man narrator escapes from power. In the second story, a daughter and her mom escape from reasonless accusing. In the third story, the father escapes from the silence of people. Dead people realize the meaning of birth when they escape from current situations. Since they don't have the courage to pursuit hope, they are not exactly born to die and the common theme is the stress that eliminates people's hope. "Nineteen Thirty-Seven" is a story that a woman is accused to kill a baby. She is accused to be a witch and is taken to the jail. It is important that her daughter tries to prove for her innocence because there is no justice and hope under the authority. Also, the authority comes from the boosted will of people and becomes the invisible power denying anything from Josephine's mom. Every year they go to the bloody rive...

HAITI

Religion: Haiti has no official religion, and the constitution allows for religious freedom. More than half of the population practices  Roman Catholicism , the dominant sect of Christianity, and approximately one-fourth is Protestant or independent Christian.  Liberation theology  continues to have some influence in religious life, notably in the shantytown areas of Port-au-Prince and other towns. Most Haitian Roman Catholics are also practitioners of  Vodou  (Voodoo, or Vodun), a religion whose gods ( lwa ) are derived from West  African religions . However, most of the country’s Protestants consider Christianity to be incompatible with Vodou. In addition to the older  Protestant  denominations established in the early 19th century (Methodists, Episcopalians, and Presbyterians), Baptists, Seventh-day Adventists, and Mormons came to Haiti during and after the period (1915–34) when the  United States  occupied the country. Ethnic Gr...

Quiz reflection

In my progress of reviewing, I found that both of acting and the form of literature are not consuming so much time. Since we have done many plays so far, we are familiar with concepts from the stage and the acting, and the concept of literature is emphasized through the process of students studying from books, such as blockings, which mainly are signals of moving and acting included in lines of a script. Also, scenes and plays left a deep impression when I read a script because we used those terms to locate a certain story in a play with each other. The concept of forms of stage and masters acquired more time to review. They are not solid because we focused on those parts by creating a presentation. At that time, Uta Hagen with her nine questions and Stanislavsky with his realistic technique were revealed. Uta hagen reminded actors to navigate themselves on stage before acting with time, location, relationships, goals, and so on. Moreover, Stanislavsky emphasized the importance of pr...

Fires in the Mirror Performance

My group has the theme of religion. It can be illustrated by an accident of a radio between African Americans and Jewish people. Adults with a cover of religion fight against the opponent, but young kids were still keeping the innocence to others whether they have a different religion or faith. We decided to use two movable chairs to highlight each actor when it's one's turn. In order to enhance the sense of conflict, we split the script into three separate visions crossed with each other through the whole text. It mainly captures an ironic and a severe battle between two sides by describing a story. Ivan, Lesley, Cassidy It was an interesting setting on the stage because they didn't sit in a straight line. Also, actors on both sides would stand up and walk to the center of our classroom. Moreover, they exaggerated their performance with more actions and emotions when they performed on their lines. The theme of this play included motivation, sadness, and rage, respecti...

Reflection to Verbatim Theater

My group has five members, so ideas will be rapidly came out. At first, we decided to use anecdotes of David to be the theme of this play. David is a senior and he has moved to Markin Hall. Compared to the life of Vdp, it will produce a strong contrast with a new boarding life in Markin. Stella was picked to act this character who is based on experiences of David. Also, Stella knows him well, including preference of expressions and talking. Cassidy was responded to adjust and to format our ideas and stories to an exact script. To be a male and having a similar boarding life with David, I worked on recalling those memorable events occurred in these years and suggested David has his unique experience at that time.

What is a Theater

In my opinion, a theater is a place that provides participants a chance to be a person who they have never thought. When an actor prepares for a character, he or she needs to interpret with their own understanding. In the vision of the audience, they may see a new vision differed from their expectations. Most of the plays try to convey an emotion from their authors, while the other plays reflect a contemporary issue. Through the process of corporating with the character, actors take a lesson from the main idea. When people watch a play, acting affects the watching experience so much. The audience pays more attention to the plots of a fiction rather than a play that they are watching. A ridiculous story can still be perfected by a great performance. People expect from a play in a theater for a story that stimulates their critical thinkings and great acting that drags them to the atmosphere. Staging is one of the key reasons why people are attracted by theaters. Audiences are overw...
