Chapter 3-5

Desiree and fellows walk in the forest and accidentally find a broken car just experiencing an accident. Desiree never sees cars before, and she realizes the car should be from rich people. Also, she finds a man who gets hurt by this accident. Peasants come to the forest and pack up the wealthy man, praying to the god. M. Bienaime and M. Julian are two peasants who are responded for finding this man's home and they really go to to find it. Villagers are really worried about those two peasants that they may not successfully come back. When the rain comes as before, it looks like apocalypse which forces creatures to look for a shelter. Mountain and water are two things left in the world. Finally, the pouring rain stops. There is a helicopter coming to get this man, and the man in the helicopter is his dad. The giant helicopter in the sky is a thing that poor people have never seen before. setting: It is a magical realism story. It is a sad and tragic love story of Désirée. It is related to the religion of voodoo, and it is in a time when cars are popularized in middle-class families. There are many strong comparisons between poor and rich people. Monsieur Bienconnu - An old man knows many things.
