Select a passage from a novel you have chosen to study where a change of atmosphere impacts on the characters and/or the course of events. By paying due attention to the context of the passage, show how such a passage might be dramatized for an audience.
When the wedding is going, Desiree goes to find Daniel in the Church.  "Her sad, searching eyes fell on Desiree. Then, with a sigh, she turned away." Obviously, her sad eyes are searching Desiree, however, when her eyes really fell on Desiree's body.
Desiree kept her final wish and final hope to find Daniel on his wedding. She was exhausted and weak that readers assume her wish would come true or gods would help her or some miracles would happen, but the atmosphere rapidly reverses from the one side of the peak to the other side. Mathilde had not expected her to come so when her sad eyes fell on her body, she felt disappointed that this girl gave up her life. On the center stage, Desiree is kneeling, crying, and crawling in the people. The music is gradually rising, and the light is gradually becoming lighter. Even though Mathilde's didn't give any reaction more, audiences are still waiting for Daniel's response and finally goes to the end.

Select a passage from the concluding chapter of a novel you have chosen to study and show how acting, staging effects and design can combine to make it an effective ending for an audience.
"The peasant girl glanced down..., and cried out " Where did I lose my lovely red comb?" It's the part when Daniel gives his response to her at the wedding. Since the only wish of Desiree is getting back from Daniel, before that, Desiree forgot dressing, cleaning, and living like a human. The stage becomes silent
only hears Desiree's crying
dirty clothes, dirty hair, dirty face and body
all lights on her
Desiree is wandering, looking at the ground
After seconds, she quickly scratches her hairs to find comb and said " Where did I lose...
Then the background music comes back and we can also hear noises.

Select a passage from a novel you have chosen to study which deals with a fantasy or dream
sequence of consequence to the narrative. How can acting and design elements be used to stage such a fantasy or dream sequence for an audience?

"Startled, Daniel's eyes fell on Andrea..." From then on, Daniel falls in love with Andrea, while Desiree is looking directly from the mirror. In reality, this is rare to happen. It happens in proper timing, proper characters, and proper props.
There should be two stages: Daniel and Andrea's, and Desiree's. Audiences usually are brought into Desiree's vision, so the overall sound of the stage is small, and Desiree's stage should is in the right. Stage right is dark, quiet, and Desiree stands close to the stage center to look at them through the mirror, while stage left is bright with low music.
