Review of Spring Improv
I recognized the Spring Improv as an impromptu, topics are all arranged before but the stuff which is played by everyone on the stage coming out instant. Even though some punchlines are really great, but it is depended on the performers' accumulation and experiences in their daily lives. Moreover, this was a great show for the audience also because the process of the show is extemporaneous that audience is not able to guess or predict the next step which brings a lot of surprises to us. There are some highlights from some of them really impressed me. Nan took the sage from the dining hall, and the tornado just happened the day before that day. I was impressed by how do they benefiting from the environment and taking them as the tools to use in the performance. The project and the emotions of them were amazing that I could hear the even though the person who had the smallest voice. Also, the changing of the emotions and the performing skills were great and they are way better than the punchlines they made in the show. I didn't laugh too many times, but I saw a great performance.
The strength of this performance is the fluency of the whole process. Since it has more than 10 people, the connection, and the sequence were well arranged. I could hardly see a pause between each of them. One of the programs which required each of them to keep the scene continue. It is difficult that projecting that show because multiple players have multiple ideas, yet it is hard for everyone next to decide whether changing to the other topic smoothly or keeping this idea on but they did really on that.
If the fluency is the strength, I would claim the repetition is the weakness. The repetition of performs in two scene and the repetition of the materials. There were some players playing on the stage more than one scene continually, which made the audience felt boring to see that. In addition, the same materials repetition in the same scene was the other weakness. There were more than one players knocking the door or playing as a crazy or sad person.
