Scene Proposals

The scene which Yun and I chose was the conversation between Jim and Tom when they are talking about the life in the warehouse and exchanging their ideas in different types of thing that they are interested in. One of the reason that why I am attracted by this scene is the changing of the people that leads the story goes. Jim talks to Tom a lot of how are they suffered from the job in the warehouse, and he is persuading Tom to leave there by his experience on the course of public speaking. This course is really helpful to Jim, as I see in these lines, Jim is always leading the flow and atmosphere when he is proving his ideas. However, Tom changes it when he supports his ideas on the movie. In this case, Tom relies on his tone of speaking, body movements to catch the eyes of the audience and Jim.

The character I will play is Tom since he is a cool man in the home. Sometimes he is a quiet and cool man while he becomes angry when he argues with his mom. I conclude that he is an emotional man when he emphasizes his arguments. In the movie, I can see Tom plays a role that advocating how much pressure he accepts from outside world. I am not good at expressing my emotions to the audience and always seen monotonous on my face.

The scene in the play is telling the information of Tom in the daytime. The structure of the whole story is based on their home, there are a lot of descriptions of the surroundings. To the life of Tom, the only thing that reader knew before was his job and movies. The outsider Jim comes to the house is an access to the outside without a doubt. Jim plans his future to the Tom and persuades Tom to the give up his job in the warehouse. More or less, Jim affects Tom and be affected by Tom in the analysis of the movie, so it is a big collide of minds of two-man who lead the story in the end.

In the aspect of literature, this scene is making a foreshadowing of the following scene that Jim meets with Laura. Building a simple concept of Jim and supplying the character of Tom, they are the main functions of this scene. It is using its contents to support and to extend the following scenes.
