There are two principal nobles in the city, Montague, and Capulet, they always have battle and arguments. One day, two families meet once again at the petrol station, fire and guns are everywhere at there. Also, both families' members are receiving the warning of punishment of the death from the Prince. A Montague member, Romeo's cousin, Benvolio goes to the beach and find Romeo, meanwhile, Romeo is still missing Rosaline. At night, Capulet is holding a party in their mansion, Romeo and his best friend Mercutio wear the costumes and go to the mansion. The first scene of Juliet is floating on the water. In the mansion, Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time, they see each other through the fish tank. Juliet's parents have planned for her marriage with Paris, then Paris has a dance with Juliet. Romeo is attracted by Juliet, he takes Juliet away after dancing and kisses her twice, they fall in love. Juliet's cousin, Tybalt recognizes Romeo and Mercutio while they are having fun in the mansion, but he is banned from fighting against them by Capulet. At the end of the feast. Romeo doesn't go back to the home with Benvolio and Mercutio immediately. However, he goes back to the mansion and assures the love of Juliet to himself. Moreover, Romeo realizes that it is harsh to have close contact with Capulet's member, he goes to find the man who knows him well, Friar Lawrence. After Friar Lawrence has been thinking for a while, he decides to hold a wedding for Romeo and Juliet to solve the intense relationships between two families. However, the angry Tybalt is finding Romeo because he fell in love with Juliet. Tybalt insults Romeo, but it also angers Mercutio. Tybalt kills Mercutio, to revenge, Romeo chases Tybalt until the night falls. In the pouring rain, Romeo kills the Tybalt and soon be banished. Capulet has no patience to wait for the wedding of Juliet and Paris, Juliet refuses the order and leaves home to find Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence provides a backup plan to Juliet which is poison, it can prevent anyone dying in 20 hours, when Romeo receives the letter that explains this plan, he will take you away. Juliet has a long battle of her mind, she chooses to believe Friar Lawrence finally. After Nurse finds that Juliet has dead, Capulet has a funeral in the church. Romeo's friend sees the funeral and rush to Romeo's living place and tells him Juliet is dead. Romeo can't wait long to find Juliet's dead body, but they also miss the delivery of the letter. Before Romeo arrives at the church, he meets with an apothecary and buys a bottle of poison. He enters in the church, whispers to the Juliet about their lives. He soon takes the poison while Juliet just wakes up. Juliet can't bear the pain of losing Romeo again, she takes the gun and shot herself at the end. The theme of this movie is missing, in the beginning, Romeo is attracted by Rosaline, after going to the feast in the mansion, Romeo forgets all about Rosaline, he misses the love with Rosaline and then drawn into the conflictions of two families. Even though Friar Lawrence has a complete plan to save Romeo and Juliet from their families, but the letter has still not been delivered to Romeo. The missing of the letter directly causes the tragedy at the end. In the end, Juliet wakes up just one second late. Although the love of Romeo and Juliet are miserable, their death doesn't unleash the intense relationship in two families. Water is a symbol in the movie that symbolizes the thing can enhance any conflict. In the scene of Mercutio's death and Tybalt's death, raining is represented the situations. Even if the death is not expected by anyone, but their death hasn't gained the peace.
There are two places in the movie highlighting, the pool of Capulet's mansion and the beach. When Romeo sneaks back to the mansion after they leave the feast, he meets with Juliet again while he falls down to the pool with Juliet. In the pool, they have an in-depth talk with their love and their lives in the future. Water refreshes the people's mind, it enhances the theme of love in the movie. Beach is probably the assembling place of Montague. Benvolio finds Romeo when Romeo is sitting on the sand and thinking about Rosaline. Tybalt also considers them on the beach. Beach is even explaining that why all Montague are wearing beach style clothing, they are chasing enthusiasm and unrestrained. Capulet servants are wearing suits, it means they want to be the formal noble, which is a good contrast. There are two bolts of lightning when Mercutio and Tybalt die, which represents sad endings of two men who are donating their lives to the people they want to protect.
A character impresses me in the movie is Mercutio. To be the character only lives half of the movie, he acts really well as the best friend. In the feast, he is the only one who truly enjoys the party, when he and Benvolio are finding Romeo after they leave the mansion. Mercutio is entangling on the destiny of Romeo if he goes to see Juliet. When Tybalt fights with him, he acts heroically as one's best friend.
Overall, I admit that I like this movie. Firstly, it has a deluxe group of actors, Leonardo acts kinda fascinatingly in this film, he interprets a real Romeo in audience's mind, a handsome, sensibility, and brave man. In this movie, I also learn a lot about how does foreshadowing apply to the film and some using of representatives, such as water and fire. Moreover, the ending is different with the original one interests me that modern life is such like that, the world will not change by anyone's death.
